It’s nomination time for the premier award for Comic book stores worldwide! The Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailer Award is given out at San Diego Comic Con every year. If you think Space Cadets deserves that award (we think we do!), than you can log on to this site and fill out the form.
The Bunker #1 from ONI Press
Quite simply, The Bunker is the hottest book on the planet right now. Written by Joshua Fialkov with a cover and interior art by Joe Infurnari, The Bunker was originally published online. ONI picked up the series for print shortly after the digital comic hit the world. During the time between the series premiering online and the first issue hitting the stands in print, the duo had optioned the series for development with Lionsgate. There are several factors that drive comics up in price on the back-issue market, and TV deals are the biggest! Couple that with the fact that the first issue was WAY under printed and you have the perfect recipe for a sure hit. The first issue arrived on stands Wednesday, February 12th and was sold out immediately. Space Cadets Collection sold out its copies within a day. As of this writing, eBay sales for a First Print copy of The Bunker #1 were ranging from $10 to $40. Expect those numbers to rise given the low number of issues out there.
The basic plot of The Bunker, without giving too much away, is about five friends who are about to go their separate ways in their lives. For posterity, they decide to bury a time capsule and revisit it years later. However, as they are in the process of digging, they uncover a mysterious bunker with their names stamped on it and find it full of artifacts from their future. Does this discovery mean they can save the world? Or insure its doom?
ONI rated this as suitable for Young Adults. I’m not sure what ONI considers a Young Adult, but I would not recommend this to anyone under 17.
$3.99 for 48 pages is a bargain with any book. But with Fialkov’s script and the dark tones from Infurnari, this book was an amazing read even without the heat behind it. Count yourself lucky if you got one.
Space Cadets Collection recently put in an order for copies of The Bunker #1 Second Printing. Yeah, these are second prints and won’t be worth as much as the first prints, but you just can’t miss out on this one. Visit Space Cadets Collection today and add this amazing title to your pullbox. If you don’t have a monthly pullbox with us, let your Space Cadets Collection associate know and we will be happy to set one up.
Your Future Ends…Now.
These are other great #1’s from January that are still available at Space Cadets Collection or are available for re-order…but act quickly as supplies are limited.
